There’s a buzz about dress rehearsals. Exhilaration at the nearness of the completion of a project combined with apprehension at not getting it right. For our perfomance piece it is not actually the end. Raf’s work is not static , but continuously evolving and he plans more sessions to work on a perfomance piece for the final days of his exhibition.
Meanwhile we donned our denim and Raf handed out a couple of props. Penny and I will be wearing one of his long gloves and carrying a ceramic egg.
Today’s rehearsals were videoed for Raf by Adriana and the Focal Point Gallery also videoed our efforts. Our performance is not really an ‘effort’. It is actually quite fun. Our tutor Kirsty is so skilful at guiding us through our paces and encouraging us when we need it. By the end of the morning we had practised our “entries” and “exits” and discussed how to smooth over potential hiccups. After all, if we make a mistake the audience won’t know, especially if we keep calm and carry on. Raf’s artist friend Agnieska came down from London and they spent the afternoon working on their perfomance, which follows straight after we finish. I am looking forward to watching that at the Opening. Click here for information about the exhibition.
