You need: Pack of blank 5inch by 7 inch cards, pencil and ruler
needle with sharp point, scissors, sponge scourer pad
4 x 3 foot lengths of embroidery thread or similar
Embellishments and Peel-off Lettering
Piece of plain paper 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches
Double sided tape
1.On inside of the card front, rule a line one-ruler-width across the card
2. Rule a second line half an inch above the first line
Using the second line as a base, measure and draw a 3.5 inch by 2.5 inch isosceles triangle.
3. Beginning at the base, mark a dot at the vertex where the base meets one of the longer sides, then continue to mark dots up the side at a quarter of an inch intervals
4. Repeat for the second longer side.
5.Place the card over a sponge and using a pointed darning needle, poke holes through, into the sponge.
6. At this stage the triangle of dots on the front of the card may be painted.
7. Measure a length of 6-strand embroidery thread approximately three feet long and cut.
8. Holding one end firmly, split the thread into two 3-strand lengths
9. Thread needle, knot one end and poke through bottom left hand vertex of the triangle from the inside to the outside
10. Insert needle through vertex on right hand side of the triangle and pull through to the inside
11. Now poke the needle through to the outside from the 2nd hole on the inside, cross over the triangle to re-insert the needle at the vertex and push through from the outside to the inside.
12. Poke the needle through the 3rd hole and cross over the outside to push through the vertex.
13. Continue criss-crossing the triangle on the outside of the. card, taking the thread up the long sides on the inside before poking back through to the outside. The two holes at the base of the triangle do become congested so it may be necessary to wiggle the needle to work it through.
14. When the thread is used up, take another three foot length of thread, knot and continue stitching. On completion, trim the threads and anchor with sticky tape.
15. Place a “gem” embellishment on top of the triangle and add peel-off lettering
16. If you wish, you may neaten the inside of the card by carefully sticking on a piece of paper to conceal the stitching.
